Drivers Licence

All drivers should have held a valid drivers licence for five years or longer. A current acceptable overseas, New Zealand or International licence is required from all drivers. Overseas drivers with a non-English licence must carry an official accurate English translation or have an International Driving Permit. At the Manager's discretion, a holder of a licence for less than five years is acceptable but may incur a higher insurance excess.

Rental Duration

A one day hire is 24 hours from time of pick up. Any late returns exceeding one hour will incur a full day hire charge.  Payment is to be made at commencement of hire by cash, credit card or debit plus card (please note that a debit plus card cannot be imprinted to cover the insurance excess, you will need a credit card for this).

Tax

Goods and Services Tax (GST) is included in all daily hire prices.

Insurance

For drivers 25 years and over, the multi-vehicle insurance excess* is $1500 + GST.  This amount can be reduced to $250 + GST by paying an extra $15 per day (three day minimum charge).
A single vehicle accident will be subject to an excess* of $3000 + GST. Single vehicle excesses are non-reducible. Windscreen insurance can be purchased for $5 per day (three day minimum charge).
*Insurance excess and driver age subject to change.

Bond

A bond is required for all hires. You may be asked to sign a separate security bond in the form of a Credit Card imprint.  This bond is held by PEGASUS and is not banked. It guarantees that the vehicle will be returned on time and in the condition that it was hired. We do not accept debit plus cards for a credit card imprint.

Early Returns

If you return your vehicle early you will not be entitled to a refund of the unused hire period.

One Way Hires

Available between most branches, minimum hire days apply. One way drop fees will apply.

Child and Baby Seats

Child seats are compulsory on New Zealand roads (up to 5 years of age) and may be hired from our branches. Please order at time of reservation stating age and weight of child so that the correct size seat may be booked.

Cancellations

Cancellations made within seven days of commencement of hire will incur a one day or 10% cancellation fee (whichever is the greater).
