Wairarapa balloon festival star attraction
The star attraction of next month’s annual hot air balloon festival in Wairarapa will be a giant panda bear, making its first trip outside of the United States to fly exclusively in New Zealand at the Wairarapa event. ‘Pandy’, the big boy from Texas will fly alongside approximately 25 other hot air balloons in the fourday event 08-11MAR. Built in Brazil, Pandy stands as tall as an eight-storey building. www.nzballoons.co.nz

at the i-SITE in Civic Square and the Interislander i-SITE increased 22% in the first half of the 2011/12 financial year, when compared to the same period the year before.
WLG terminal rocks with Frommers
Wellington’s ‘Rock’ terminal has been named No. 4 among the world’s top ten airport terminals by travel website Frommers. Top spot went to Jeddah’s Hajj Terminal, with Leifur Eriksson Air Terminal, Keflavik, Iceland and the Incheon terminal at Seoul filling out the top three.
The ratings were made based on ‘cleanliness, services, on-time departures, navigation and the ease of getting to and from a city’s center,’
USA Today reported.
Te Waka attraction proposed for Auckland waterfront
Promoters of Te Waka, a major cultural tourism attraction for Auckland’s waterfront, have offered to save ratepayer funds and build a new cruise ship terminal into its design if the government and Auckland Council make Queens Wharf available for its location.

WLG is proving just as popular, with 500 tickets selling within 25 minutes of being released.
